SatNav Africa JPO recently participated in the ACAO/ICAO Radio Navigation Workshop held from 24 to 26 February 2025 in Rabat, Morocco. The event brought together experts from the ACAO region, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia to exchange insights on the evolution of radio navigation and satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS).

During the workshop, SatNav Africa JPO provided an update on the implementation of SBAS in Africa, showcasing key developments in Eastern Africa, including a GNSS monitoring pilot project. Participants engaged in knowledge sharing on ICAO provisions related to radio navigation, the latest advancements in GNSS and its augmentation, and strategies to address radio communications interference.

Discussions also focused on the growing challenges of GNSS vulnerabilities, with experts exploring trends, state perspectives, and approaches by service providers to mitigate interference and ensure the continued safety of navigation.
